Hiba Alansari lives and works in Berlin. She studied sculpture and painting at the Institute of Fine Arts at Asham Ismail and Ezzat in Damascus (2005-2008) and oil painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Damascus (2007-2012), before receiving her MFA in sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich (2017). Hiba’s practice blurs lines between sculpture and performance, as she experiments with the material expression of the process of reckoning with trauma and violence. Alansari has exhibited widely in the Middle East and Europe. Recent solo exhibitions include Shedhalle - Rote Fabrik, Zurich (2019), Ashkal Alwan, Beirut (2017), and Einstein Kultur, Munich (2015).
