Guevara Namer is a Syrian Kurdish photographer and documentary filmmaker based in Berlin. She started her career in Damascus in 2005. Her photography exhibition Existing Elsewhere was held in Berlin in October 2020. Her film Morning Fears, Night Chants, co-directed with Diana El-Jeiroudi, premiered at IDFA in 2012. Recently, she worked as the assistant director on Gianfranco Rosi’s film NOTTURNO, which premiered at the main international competition of the Venice International Film Festival in 2020, and as a researcher for Hogir Hirori’s upcoming film Sabaya. Namer currently works as a curator and is editing her first photography book, Dialogue with Absence.
