Syrian film production has risen remarkably within the last decade receiving high critical acclaim and international attention. This talk brings together Syrian filmmakers from different backgrounds to reflect on their approaches on how to document and build up different narratives away from the regime's propaganda and media’s representation. What is the “Syrian Cinema Revolution”? Does it really exist - or does this term rather express the hope to have one? What are the discussions on documentary cinema among Syrian audiences? A conversation on questions of representation and authenticity in documentary cinema, and on the power and failure of cinema to impact reality.
