On Saturdays, we started to introduce jam sessions as a space for Syrian musicians to come together and create together. Each of the sessions had 8-14 attendees. The intention of the jam sessions was to create the first Syrian music festival in Berlin which would also empower TheIndex.art (previously known as Syria Cultural Index) by creating a database of Syrian musicians in Berlin. The project, not only enriched the artists, but also contributed to the conseptualization of the on progress Rawabet Festival. By the end, coculture hosted 42 jam sessions! The jam sessions have been an initiative supported by Ford Foundation.
Our former space has hosted a multitude of different events. You can read more about it in its dedicated page or exploring the archive of past projects!
The Lab category features emerging project concepts exploring future artistic possibilities. These sketches represent coculture's exploratory spirit, highlighting innovative ideas awaiting development.
While realization isn't guaranteed, this space invites viewers to envision the potential of transformative art and cultural narratives.
